Walk for Memories – Why It Matters

 

 

For me, this journey has always been about impact. The honour of being a Mrs South Africa Finalist comes with the opportunity — and the responsibility — to create meaningful change. A platform means nothing unless it is used to serve others, and I am committed to standing for something bigger than myself.

 

I chose to support CANSA (Paediatric Cancers) because I believe every child deserves not only access to healthcare, but also the chance to live a life filled with joy, love, and memories.

💛 Why We Walk

When cancer enters a family’s life, it does more than bring treatments and hospital visits. It steals something deeper: time. Time to play. Time to dream. Time to simply be a child. Memories are what cancer tries to take — and they are what we must fight to protect.

 

That’s why we walk. To honour little warriors. To remember those taken too soon. To remind families they are not alone. And to create moments that will last long after the finish line is crossed.

For a child, a memory can be as simple as a medal at the end of a fun walk, laughter with friends, or a day at the zoo with family. These are the stories they carry forward, the anchors of joy that illness can never erase.
